Passport to Art Day 4

Here on this blog I am going to share how I made the page for today's prompt.  Today's theme is Packing and the technique challenge is using a mask.

These are my next few pages folded ready.

And here's the page for today.  I decided to glue the fold down to make a triangular page.  I brushed a layer of gesso over the page.

I used a Tim Holtz mask and Distress Ink.

I inked over the whole page and randomly stamped with a 'crackle' stamp that I think looks like a map.  I added the verse and the quote and stamped the squiggly lines.  I also cut out a stip of map paper from one of the pages I had pulled out of the book and stuck that on.

I stuck a transparent pocket on the page having first stamped a compass on the front.  I wrote on the tag.

Or another way - my friend, Elaine.

I've been away for a few days in Yorkshire and the north west of England, mostly to do classes at Art from the Heart - photos of this another day.

In between I went to stay in Toronto with Elaine.   And that's another story!  I sent a parcel to Elaine and the lady in the Post Office made me remove the name Toronto from the address in case Royal Mail sent it to Canada!

On Monday we went for a lovely walk along the river at Barnard Castle.

Passport to Art Day 3

If you want to join in with making an altered book through the month of July click through to the Passport to Art challenge blog.

Here on this blog I am going to share how I made the page for today's prompt.  The theme today is Visa and giving yourself permission.

I started with a piece of paper cut to the size of my book and chose this 12x12 stencil.

I stamped through the stencil with blue ink at the top and the bottom.

I used a brown ink across the middle.

I cut the paper in to two pieces so that some of the page could show through.

I put the top piece of paper through my printer so that the words looked more official. Then after inking the edges I stuck the paper down.  On the bottom piece I didn't glue down the top to make a shallow pocket.

I added my signature, the quote and the verse and made a small collage of scrapbooking bits with a tag.  I didn't stick the tag down on the left side so that I could slip another tag behind it.

I inked and stamped the one side of the large tag.

I wrote my journaling on the other side.
