Summer of Color weeks 4 & 5

I missed the deadline for Week 4 of Summer of Color which was charcoal grey and pale pink  but decided I would still play.  I didn't try a new Gelli technique, I tried out some new acrylic paints instead.

I liked this one best of all so I stuck it into my journal.

Then I put modelling paste through two stencils - a round one on top of the alphabet one.  However the stencils weren't very clean so the white has come out a creamy sort of colour.

And these are some mop ups.

So, on to week 5, Candy Apple Red and Yellow.    It has been really hot here in the UK - well hot for us - around 27 degrees Celsius - and I have found it quite uncomfortable.   It has reminded me of a British comedy programme which every week had a weather forecast.

                    

And so  I took my red and yellow page

stuck it in my journal and using Dylusions alphabet stamps stamped Scorchio!

Passport to Art Day 9

If you want to join in with making an altered book through the month of July click through to the Passport to Art challenge blog.

Here on this blog I am going to share how I made the page for today's prompt.  The inspiration for today is the story of Joseph and the challenge was to drip colour down the page - drippage!

Here's the shape of today's page with the previous pages showing behind it.

I decided I would use the rest of the watercolour and salt paper on this side.

I sprayed the tag with water and sprayed the colours and held the tags so the inks ran down the tag. Then I added some purple to the watercolour piece.

I decided I would make another pocket so I placed the tag where I wanted it to be and put the doublesided tape round it.  Then stuck the triangle down.

I added the quote to the page and the verse to the tag.  I stamped the camels.

I wrote the journaling on the back of the tag.

I thought this was the finished page but then decided that there was too much of the original page showing.

There was a small strip of the watercolour piece left so I stuck that onto the page near the spine.

My Art Holiday or It's all in the process!

I have just got back from a few days away which included several days at Art from the Heart with the delicious Dyan.

I attended 3 different workshops over 4 days and an evening.

Actually I hadn't intended it to be like that. I booked the Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday workshop which was in June. Then I booked the two one day workshops in July. And it was only when I put them on the calendar I found they were one day apart.

Never mind, I had a great time.

The weekend workshop was Handmade Books and Journals and over the time we made 3 different books.

The tall slim one has plain paper in it.  The orange one has some painted papers in it.

And the small one has the most painted papers and we stitched on the pages with a sewing machine.

 

None of these books are remotely finished, but the process was great!

On the Tuesday I attended the Writing in Your Journal workshop.  My pages ended up rather green - must remember to let the yellow dry before I add the turquoise!

And we learned about threading a tag through a page.  I've yet to write on the tag!

And on to my last day.  A workshop called Mixed Media Mayhem and it certainly lived up to its title.  Yet again this is not finished.  But we did to a surprising amount in four and a half hours.

The rest of the photos are the pages as they are now.  When (if) I finish them I'll post again.

Lots of lovely and some not-so-lovely backgrounds to play with.  When I reassemble the book it might not be in this order - who knows!?!
