Practising Gratitude day 5: Be kind

For 21 days in May I am running an art challenge blog called The Art of Practising Gratitude.  Today's post is here.  On my blog I am showing what I did in response to the blog post.

Today's art challenge is to use Distress Inks.  I tried the various suggestions from the video.  These two tags were pressed into the inks on the mat to build up layers.

The tag on the left was crumpled up and I used 2 colours of ink.  It still looks crumpled but I can assure you that I ironed it.  I stamped over the top using Distress Ink rather than Archival.  For the tag on the right I used 3 colours of Distress Ink and then lightly misted the stamp with water before stamping so that it has more of a watercolour look.

This is my page for today.

I used the Peacock Feathers Distress Ink to add some colour at the bottom of the page and used a stencil for the shapes.

I added some extra stencilling and stamped be kind.  I cut down the stamped image and stuck it to my page.  I cut up the Bible verse and inked the edges before sticking them down.

I added my journaling along the spine edge of the page.

Thanks for stopping by.

Practising Gratitude day 4: Be Happy

For 21 days in May I am running an art challenge blog called The Art of Practising Gratitude.  Today's post is here.  On my blog I am showing what I did in response to the blog post.

Today's art challenge was to use shaving cream.  I love this technique and it is very addictive so I only allowed myself a short play.  I used Distress Reinkers for the colour.

I took this print from the foam in the picture above.

And this was what it looked like after I'd scraped off the foam.

And here's another tag I printed after I had added some blue to the mix.

I did three tags altogether and when they were dry they looked like this.

The next page in my book looked like this

with this sentence left uncovered.  I love serendipity.

I stencilled the hearts on the pages.

I chose the brightest of the tags, inked the edges and stuck it into the book.  I added an extra heart on the left hand page.  I stuck the Bible verse on the tag and a heart sticker.  I stamped be happy and wrote my journaling.

Thanks for stopping by.

Practising Gratitude day 3: Inspire

For 21 days in May I am running an art challenge blog called The Art of Practising Gratitude.  Today's post is here.  On my blog I am showing what I did in response to the blog post.

I put some Distress Ink over this page and it highlighted all the wrinkles from when I altered the book.  I also used some stencils to add pattern.

I watched Kaz's video and then used a new butterfly stencil I had which really didn't suit the tutorial.  I used Amsterdam acrylic paint and did two coats.  I stamped the verb for today: inspire.

Since it wasn't possible to do the colouring the way Kaz had recommended I put the stencil back on the page and went over the white acrylic with the Peacock Feathers Distress Ink and then drew round the butterflies with a black pen.  I added the Bible verse.

I added my journaling around the edge of the pages.

Thanks for stopping by.
