Eclectica Exhibition

Last week, a few of us from Eclectica, the textile group I belong to, went to Forge Mill Needle Museum in Redditch to see our exhibition.

There's still time to visit.  It ends on Sunday November 26th.  The museum is open everyday from 10-3.

I took as many photos as I could.  There was some gorgeous work in the glass cabinets but the reflections were too much from the lights to be able to successfully photograph the work.

 

And lastly my canal-inspired pieces.

I really like the brick wall behind these pieces.  It sets them off really well.

A felt experiment

At a recent Eclectica get-together we had a go at making felt bowls.  Well, actually I didn't.  I made pieces of nuno felt instead.  I used undyed scrim and some merino wool tops.

I thought I would experiment with making a felt book.  I stencilled with acrylic paint on both sides of the pieces.  This is the scrim side.

And this is the felt side.

Then I stitched into the felt but I forgot to take photos before I assembled the book.

It's not my favourite book.  However I'm glad I made it but I probably won't be making another one.

Eclectica Exhibition

Last weekend was the British Quilt and Stitch Village show at Uttoxeter Racecourse.  I was there stewarding the Eclectica exhibition on Friday and Saturday.  Sarah and Rob put up the exhibition.  It looks really professional.

Eclectica Exhibition

It is well worth making a trip to the Museum of Cannock Chase.  As you know I am in a textile group called Eclectica and we have an outstanding exhibition at the Museum.

Kate Brierley took all these fabulous photos.

And if you're interested in local history, the history of mining and what life looked like in the 1940s there's lots of other things to see at the museum as well as our wonderful exhibition.  And there's a local nature reserve to walk around.  Close by is Cannock Chase and in the other direction Chasewater.

Eclectica Exhibition

This Weekend is the British Quilt & Stitch Village show at Uttoxeter Racecourse.   It opened yesterday and closes at 4pm tomorrow.  So plenty of time for you to visit!

I spent yesterday stewarding the Eclectica group's work.  Sarah and her husband did a great job of putting up the exhibition and all the work is fabulous.  Sadly my photos don't do it justice.
