Eclectica Exhibition

It is well worth making a trip to the Museum of Cannock Chase.  As you know I am in a textile group called Eclectica and we have an outstanding exhibition at the Museum.

Kate Brierley took all these fabulous photos.

And if you're interested in local history, the history of mining and what life looked like in the 1940s there's lots of other things to see at the museum as well as our wonderful exhibition.  And there's a local nature reserve to walk around.  Close by is Cannock Chase and in the other direction Chasewater.

I took these photos of my work

Traces

I drove down to Cirencester to meet Helen & Becca so that we could visit the Quilt Art Traces exhibition.  It is at the New Brewery Arts Centre.

I took photos of the pieces that most appealed to me.

Cry Me A River by Jette Clover

Traces of Memory by Christine Chester

The exhibition is on until March 15th so you still have time to visit.  Whilst you're there take the lift to the top floor and visit my friend Emily Northen.

Thanks for joining me today.

Traverse at Uttoxeter

Traverse exhibited recently at the British Quilt & Stitch Village at Uttoexeter Racecourse.  You can read about the exhibition on the Traverse website.

Our theme has been Destinations and the work I exhibited at Uttoxeter was the same work shown at the NEC that I wrote about here.

Venice Tiles

The show was much smaller than the NEC but we spoke to far more people and received much more feedback from visitors.

On the last day I was approached by 4 different people who want to book me to teach the technique I used for the Venice tiles.  They all promised to email me so I'll have to wait and see if it happens.  I'm feeling excited, flabbergasted and terrified all at the same time.

Thanks for joining me today.

ExTex - The Finale

Well it's over.  A nine month investment into creativity.  9 weekends of learning and playing finished with an exhibition at the Fashion & Embroidery Show at the NEC.

We had a fabulous exhibiton space and many visitors who made super comments about our work. Kim chose a selection of items from each of the 10 students to make up this amazing array of work.   She chose several f mine that were featured in my last ExTex post.

My final piece was a set of books hanging as a mobile.

The books mostly moved about except when I tried to film them!

And of course you can't go to a show and not spend money. Well, my plan was to go and NOT spend money.  But inevitably I did.

I don't usually buy these blocks but this one had my name on it.

And then! I watched a Hilary Beattie video and was able to do this with the blue foamy thingy.

I'm really looking forward to working with this block.  I'll report back!

Thanks for stopping by.
