Another course

Yes I know!  I do too many.  But this one with Fibre Arts Take Two is a Masterclass and is called Essence of Identity.  It's about finding out more about yourself so you can put  more of yourself in your work.  I feel it builds on the mentoring sessions I had with Christine Chester in 2017.  Can't believe it's that long ago.

One of the modules has been to look at elements and principles of design - which ones appeal to us and which ones we use.

I went through some of my photos and put them together to demonstrate LINE (see above) and SHAPE (below).

 TEXTURE

And DECAY which is another form of texture.

And you can probably see - if you didn't already know - that I'm attracted to neutral COLOURS and pale blues.  Also rust and orange!

I've also looked at my own work and where the elements and principles are in that but I'll share that another day.

Thanks for joining me today

Interruption

After I had sorted out my map pieces I interrupted myself by signing up for an online course with Sally Tyrie through Fibre Arts Take Two.  FATT courses are really well filmed and presented and this is the third one I've taken.

The appeal of this one, Visual Narratives - Print, Paint, Stitch with Sally Tyrie, was that it incorporated photography, collage and collograph plates.  If you are a regular reader you know that I take lots of photographs but rarely do anything with them creatively.  Sally talks about altering the photographs with a photo editor and layering the photos digitally.  She also talks about printing out the altered photos and layering them up manually.  Sounds like my sort of course.

It was my plan to leave the theme of canals alone for a while but the topic really fitted the Visual Narratives concept.

Today I'm going to show you some of the original photos and what I've done with them in the app Snapseed using my iPad.

See if you can spot which of the original photos feature in each of the following:

Snapseed is very addictive!

Another online course

I signed up for an online course through Fibre Arts Take Two.  The course is called Process & Possibilities - Connecting with Collage.   The tutor is Cordula Kagemann.

I have watched all of the videos and done some of the activities.  I made some collages and am continuing to make them.

I tried image transfer but this one didn't work very well.  I'll try again sometime.

I also tried making a textile sheet.  My first attempt became dark grey because I didn't allow the layers to dry properly before putting the next layer on.  I knocked it back with white paint and a bit of turquoise, but it's still a bit grey.

With my second attempt I tried different colours of layers than those in Cordula's instructions.  This is much more in my colour palette.  I'm looking forward to cutting it up.

Thanks for joining me today.
