Day 3 My Attitude of Gratitude Journal

News
If you are on Facebook, I have set up An Attitude of Gratitude Journal Challenge group where you can share your thoughts on the daily theme or link your blog or add a photo.
Originally I wasn't going to have a Facebook group but there are a few people who are following along who don't have blogs or Flickr accounts themselves or who are making lists but not doing any art so I thought I would give a forum for that.  The group is open for everyone so do join in.

Here on this blog I am going to share how I made the page for today's prompt on Creativity.

Today's art challenge was to 'draw freehand using any media you own'.

I forgot to photograph what I did as I went along so it will be mostly writing today!

I started by putting some 'clouds' of gel medium on the page ~ which you can't see in the photo and which actually didn't work well because I was rather too sparing with the gel medium.  When it was dry I went over the whole page with Distress Ink.  I started with Tumbled Glass and then added Faded Jeans.

I then started drawing with Inktense Pencils.  Any watercolour pencils will do!  I drew the tree, the grass and the stream and then used a wet brush over all the drawing.

I added a few highlights with a black pen and a white pen.  I stuck on the bible verse and added my journaling.

Remember you can interpret the challenge in any way you choose.  This is just my interpretation.

Have fun.

Day 2 My Attitude of Gratitude Journal

If you want to join in with making an Attitude of Gratitude Journal through the month of November click through to the Challenge blog.

Here on this blog I am going to share how I made the page for today's prompt on Today.

Today's art challenge was to 'use circles or squares'.

I used the same colour scheme as yesterday as I rather liked how it turned out.  I sprayed through a plastic canvas circle at the top and turned it over and pressed it down at the bottom right.  I sprayed blobs of Bubblegum Pink and sprayed Squeezed Orange through a stencil I had made by punching out 3 circles in a piece of card.   I put some clear gesso over the orange circles when the ink had dried.  Then I sprayed over the whole page with Fresh Lime.   Because of the colour of the base page, the colours are not as true as on the whilt backing paper.

I sprayed Bubblegum Pink through another Dylusions stencil.  O also used a Crafters Workshop stencil to get the small circles at the top right.I drew round the large circles with a black pen and a white pen.  I spread some white gesso through a Crafter's WOrkshop chevron stencil and wiped the excess randomly on the page.

I cut out the Bible verse and stuck it on the page with gel medium.   I also sprayed a lot of the bubblegum pink and some water at the top of the page and encouraged it to drip down the page.

I added some black lines round the verse and journaled about the things I am thankful for today.

I hope you found today's post useful.  If you are joining in with this project please post a link to your work on the challenge blog.

Hope to see you over there.

Here on this blog I am going to share how I made the page for today's prompt on Wholeheartedness.

Today's art challenge was to 'use a colour you don't like or don't use very often'.

I don't often use yellow in my art so that was my starting point.  Dylusions Lemon Zest.

Just so you know!  This is a bit of a Dylusions fest using spray inks, stamps and stencils from the range.

Putting the large sheets of cartridge paper I mentioned in last Friday's post on my table, I started by spraying through some Punchinella (sequin waste) onto the non-printed side of Kraft cardstock using Bubblegum Pink and sprayed Fresh Lime through an alphabet stencil.  Instead of wiping the punchinella and the stencil or pressing them into pages of another sketchbook, I pressed them onto the large sheet of paper.  I also used the piece of cotton rag to mop up with and to dry sections of the page.

I sprayed the page with water and then with the Lemon Zest. I mopped up the excess by pressing one of the pieces of cartridge paper onto it and then onto the A3 cartridge paper.

I used Melted Chocolate  to spray through a Diamond stencil.  And when this was dry, I randomly stamped with Dylusions Basic Backgrounds stamps and black Archival Ink.

I stamped the birds from this Dylusions set and painted them with a small brush using Squeezed Orange.   I cut up the printed out Bible verse and backed it onto purple scrapbooking paper and stuck it to the page.  I highlighted some of the diamonds and circles with a white pen.

Finally I journaled my thoughts on positivity and negativity in my lifeand the need for mindfulness.

I hope you found today's post useful.  If you are joining in with this project please post a link to your work on the challenge blog.

Hope to see you over there.
