What on earth does 10+ in 5 mean? Well, my friend Sandie has a monthly photo challenge on her blog called 5 in 5. You take as many photos as you can in 5 minutes and then choose 5 to share. The photography group I am in chose to take this idea but share all the photos we took in the 5 minutes.
I haven't been out anywhere lately so I stood next to a tree in my back garden. I may have taken the challenge too literally. I stood in the same place for the 5 minutes, although I did turn around on the spot. Looking at Sandie's photos I think it might be possible to move about to complete the challenge!
Some of the above are not as in focus as I would normally show people. I did delte 2 that were really out of focus.
Why not join in with Sandie's 5 in 5 challenge?
Thanks for joining me today.

Capturing the Place
In September I spent 3 memorable days with my friends Lorna and Sandie at Forge Mill Museum on an art retreat led by Hilary Beattie.
We spent the three days immersing ourselves in the place. I took lots of photos - mostly outside the building. I didn't really ever get to the inside. Before I went I was planning to do about the cogs and wheels of the machinery but I never made it that far.
In today's blog post I am going to share some of the photos I took and then in the next blog post I'll show you my sketchbook.
The room we were working in.
Bits and pieces around the mill
Next time - how these photos and the place itself impacted the work in my sketchbook.
Thanks for joining me today

Snapshot Girls Photos
I belong to a Ladies Photography group called Snapshot Girls. Each month we submit 5 photos on a theme.
January's theme was Christmas
and February's theme was Winter.
If you like the idea of taking 5 photos on a theme you could try joining Sandie in her 5 in 5 challenge on her blog.
Thanks for joining me today.

Paper Transformations
Last week I went to Art Van Go for two days to do a workshop with Amanda Hislop called: Paper Transformations - Taking Paper Books Further. I went with my friend Sandie.
The first activity was to choose a size of page you wanted your finsihed book to be and then to make some pages to that size using different kinds of papers. I chose to make an 8 inch square book. While we were waiting for the glue to dry we started the next activity.
Amanda introduced us to mark making using various tools and inks. We also added water with a brush.
We moved on to making marks on the pages we had assembled.
We used a wax candle as a resist
Lots of my pages were more than 8 inches square so that I could have folded bits.
On the second day more mark making activity went on. Then I started assembling various bits and pieces.
This is a brown envelope with added painted papers made into a mini zigzag book.
This is a piece of Khadi paper folded and pieces of one of the painted papers cut up and stuck on. It needs stitching or some more marks with pen.
This is the start of a collage.
Remember the decison to make an 8 inch square book! Well this is it!!!! 8 inches by 4 inches
I folded the pages so that they were 8 inches square and then folded them in half to make signatures.
The large sheets of mark making were cut and folded to make zigzag books
And lastly I cut up the square I had done just with ink and water and stuck it on to Khadi paper.
Lots of lovely starting points for future work.
Thanks for stopping by.
