A zine of zines

You can make each Zine as a standalone booklet and make the front page a cover.

Or you can make several Zines and put them together to make a zine of zines.   I made these for a blog challenge I was running called 12 Months in View.

I could have sewn each zine in the middlle and then connected them together by sewing the threads together or threading the thread through a spine.  I decided to use glue.

I glued the pages together in each zine that opened where they weren't supposed to.

I glued each zine to the next one.

In my stash of bits worked on and too good to throw away I found a large tag that I had stenciled and stamped on.

I cut the end off and inked the edges on the back.  I scored the spine folds.

I glued the cover to the back and front of the zines but not to the spines.  I added some tissue tape to the back cover.

I added tissue tape to the front and used letters from my scrapbooking stash for the title.

I am really pleased with the end result.  I hope you like yours too.  Don't forget to share your end result with us all.

L is for Living Life

In our Living Your Word of the Year group we are using a fortnightly (bi-weekly) A-Z challenge throughout the year to help us focus on our word and live it out.

Because of the way I have made my journal it's a case of going with the flow of what background the pages have when I turn to them.  I think this page is so lively so I decided to concentrating on committing to living life to the full.

I had the privilege of seeing Valerie Sjodin's travel journal in the 'flesh' and loved her use of washi tape. I am following her Washi Tape Adventure series on her blog.  I copied part of one of her pages here.

As well as using up some of my washi tape, I am also committed to using up lots of the stickers from my stash.  I went through them looking for appropriate ones and put them on a perspex ruler to see whether they would fit.

I went a bit mad and put all of them on.

And then looked at some transparent stickers with words on.

And finally went round everything with a neon orange pen.

I only hope I can live up to this!

Calendar pages

It's hard to believe that it's already June.  This will be the sixth month that I've been living with my word of the year: Commit.   In my journal I have a page for a calendar each month.  I have shown some of the pages on the blog during the year.  But as I was preparing the June page I went back through the months and put photos of key events onto the previous calendar pages.

I have found it quite dificult to photograph the book so I'm sorry about the quality of the images.   The April page is a bit of a mess as well.

If I journal next year I think I will start with white pages!

Journal Cover

You may remember that I put together a journal for Word of the Year but didn't put a cover on it.

Valerie is doing a series on her blog called Washi Tape Adventures which gives ideas for using all that lovely washi tape you have squirrelled away.   I have such a lot of washi tape so I thought I would use it to decorate the cover of my journal.   First I glued wallpaper lining paper onto my journal using Golden Soft Gel Medium.

I put it under a weight while the glue dried and then trimmed the edges.  I put an extra wide tape down the spine.

I put stripes of washi tape across the front.  I was going to do it with small bits of washi tape - so that there might be 2 or 3 patterns on one line but decided it was too complicated!

I trimmed the edges and put vertical strips.  I folded over the tape on the outside edge.

And then I did the back.  I deliberately didn't match it to the front.

And here it is.  If the tape starts peeling a bit - and it might with handling - I shall Gel Medium over it.
