ATG: Seasons

Since last September I have been attending an Art Textile Group at Littleheath Barn run by Liske Johnson.  The theme for the work we were doing was the Seasons.

As you may know I love making books and I love doing collages, so here was the opportunity to combine the two.  We started the sessions working on Summer but having finished the work I have decided to join the book so that it starts with Winter.

The book is approximately 7" x 6"

For each season I made 3 collages.  At one point each season could have become a panel rather than a zigzag book.

During our time together we tried out various techniques on fabric, the results of which sometimes were included in the book and some pieces have added to my ever-increasing stash.

Lines and more lines

In my blog post about our visit to London I shared a photograph of the masts of the Cutty Sark.  I can't resist sharing all the other photos I took.

It's only as I posted the first photo here that I noticed the white aeroplane trail in the sky.

I have altered this photo to make it a silhouette.  However all the other photos are direct from the camera.

 

I love how the lines are layered because of the three masts.

K is for Knowing

In our Living Your Word of the Year group we are using a fortnightly (bi-weekly) A-Z challenge throughout the year to help us focus on our word and live it out.

Because of the way I have made my journal it's a case of going with the flow of what background the pages have when I turn to them.  I had already added the letters at the top left when I remembered I hadn't taken a photo of what it looked like when I turned to the page.

I had read Valerie's post Keys to Living Your Word of the Year where she talks about knowing you you are and that struck a chord.  Knowing who you are in Christ is a significant value at my church so I thought I would use that as my theme for K.

I printed out verses and moved them about on the page until I was happy.  It was going to be a tight squeeze to fit it all on.

I cut up the verses into strips and stuck them down.

I drew round your on the verses to make it clearer which line belonged to which section.
