A vision board or two

In our Word of the Year group it was suggested we looked back over 2020 and looked forward to the rest of the year.  Mary provided some great questions on her blog post 2020 Vision Board & Moving Forward.   Do have a look at them.

To be honest I didn't answer the questions, I just went for the vision board for my word: Walk.

I've missed walking alongside the canals during lockdown.  I found this great picture of the canal in the centre of Birmingham in the Ramblers magazine.

At the same time as the vision board came up as a topic for Living your Word, it came up in the course I am doing: Created to Thrive led by Matt Tommey.  The book is worth reading even if you don't do the course.

This 'board', (actually cardstock!), has two parts to it.  The lefthandside represents the role God has for me in encouraging creativity within my church, including running a community creative space. I had been wondering whether I was supposed to be building up a group of creative influencers within the church, running specific groups eg photography, writers etc but have had several confirmations this week that I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing.

On the right is some of the work I have done in the last couple of years. Over the last six months, (regular readers will have noticed), I have been querying whether this was the creative work I was supposed to be doing. What was my style/voice etc? But as I was working in the workbook for the course, I felt God say I was to carry on with what I was doing, to make more pieces (fabric and/or paper) to bring glory to Him.

So that's what I'm going to do.  Make books, small hangings and anything else I'm inspired to make.  I'll share what I make here, as always!

D is for ???

In our Living Your Word of the Year group we are using a fortnightly (bi-weekly) A-Z challenge throughout the year to help us focus on our word and live it out.

Because of the way I have made my journal it's a case of going with the flow of what background the pages have when I turn to them.

I could not decide what D word to use for these pages.  Why was a decision so hard to make?   In fact I did the E pages before the D pages which is just as well as it turned out.

Psalm 37 has come up several times so I am now assuming it is my verse or verses of the year.  So I looked at it again and found that verse 4 says: 'Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart'.

So there we have it: D is for delight.

As I said, I did the E pages first and needed to extend the pages.  I found a Teresa Collins folder in my scrapbooking stash and stuck it down on the D page so that it folded out for the E pages.  That's the cream bit with black pattern.

I searched on Biblegateway for delight and also looked for quotes online.  I thought the e.e.cummings quote sat well with the design on the page.

I printed out the other verses I found, cut them up and stuck them on the page.  I don't really doodle but I thought I could always come back to this page and doodle round the verses with a black pen.

One Little Word: March

The task for March was to make our word visible through a type of vision board or vision pages.  Although the actual description was to find images and words or phrases we like and make a collage or 4 and that's what I did.   It may not seem on first glance that these pages are anything to do with my word {Connect} but they are.

This picture of Cragside with words Building Dreams really appealed to me.  I added the other words.

I used a piece of scrapbook paper that looks like watercolours dripping down.  The words I found for this are to encourage me to be more intentionally creative.

This page is also about connecting with creativity.  I used a page from a Stampington magazine as the background.

And lastly, this is a photo of Corfe Castle from the National Trust magazine with some positive thoughts for life, travel and exercise.

I put some stickers on the front and back of the March binder divider.
