The day before yesterday was the first Sunday in Advent which saw the start of an Advent Study on His Kingdom Come. It is available to everyone - you don't have to be a member of the community. Although it would be great if you joined. It's not too late to take part.
I decided to continue in my Take Me Deeper Dylusions journal. I decided I would use half a page for each day and counted how many pages I had left. The Advent study is 27 individual prompts. I worked out I didn't have enough pages left so I added in 3 extra pages using washi tape to hinge the pages.
I have already done my art for December 17th and 19th as I have written the devotions for that day. My journal pages look like this:
The study could be done as a tag book, as a written journal - in any creative way you choose.

This is the last of the ReWind posts before we start our Advent Study at His Kingdom Come. The theme for this week was Promises - the promises of God.
Continuing with using my new Gelatos I scribbled 2 different colours - one on each page.
I wet the pages and then pressed one onto the other.
And peeled them apart to reveal this.
I left it to dry naturally.
I put two types of washi tape around the edge of the pages.
I put washi tape in random places on the page. At this point I still had no idea where the page was going.
I printed out 5 verses and coloured the paper with Distress Ink. I put the verses onto the pages and drew round them with a turquoise pen. The pen didn't work well over the gelatos so some of the lines are a bit wonky!
This week's ReWind looks back to August's Shaped by Gratitude.
I used some shaped post-it type sheets onto my page and put gesso on the page. The shapes acted as a mask.
When the gesso was dry I scribbled with the gelato colours.
I used a wet wipe to blend them together.
When I removed the green shapes some of them had bits stuck to the gesso but I left them - added texture?
I wrote the theme word for each month of Take Me Deeper in oone of the shapes with a coloured pen.
Then I wrote prayers of gratitude based on that theme.

We are continuing with the ReWind theme in Take Me Deeper at His Kingdom Come. This week's them looks back to Honour, the theme for July.
I used some of stick on letters to put the word honour in several places.
At this point I had no idea what I was going to do and then as I had the black gesso out I put black gesso over the whole page.
I wasn't quite sure how gelatos would work with this but I decided to give it a go. As you can see in the photo below I scribbled on the page and then blended the colours. I tried a small section with a wet wipe which wiped off some of the colour so I used a piece of paper towel instead.
I went over the letters with a silver gelato.
I added words and a border with a white Sharpie
It's not one of my favourite pages but at least I learned that you can put gelato colours on black gesso.
The theme for ReWind this week at Take Me Deeper on His Kingdom Come is Family. This was the theme for June. I didn't do the pages in June but caught up in September.
I have just bought some Gelatos and decided I would try them out in my TMD journal without having tried them anywhere else. I watched a couple of YouTube videos and then went for it.
I put gesso on the page and when it was dry I used 6 colours of gelatos to scribble across the top of the page.
I tried to blend them with the foam tool that came with the Gelatos.
Then I sprayed the whole page with water but forgot to take a photo. At this point I was totally stuck for ideas so I chose two washi tapes that I like and made a border round the page with them.
Then I chose another two washi tapes and randomly stuck them down.
Then I went and re-read the prompt for this week. The worship video was The Poem of Your Life by Michael Card.
I found the lyrics and printed out the first verse and stuck it on to my page.

The last of my October ReWind posts for Take Me Deeper is Sanctuary from May.
I used Ranger Transparent Gloss Texture paste through a stencil. I love this new-to-me product because when it is dry it looks like how heat embossing with clear powder looks but without the hassle of the powder - which gets everywhere!
While it was drying I watched a new Dyan Reaveley video from Ranger where she demonstrated how to ink a page properly. So I tried it - although I still didn't get as much ink sprayed on to the page as she said.
I pressed the left hand page onto the wet page and got this result. This is how I know there wasn't as much ink as in Dyan's video because she had ink pouring out of her journal.
Anyway I rather liked the result so I left it alone - apart from drying the page. Then I wrote out some of the verses from the month long study prompts.
Sometimes you do pages you really like and sometimes you do pages that look really ugly. I'm glad to say I think this one looks 'real purty'!
Continuing with my Pinterest inspiration theme, I saw Diane had pinned a technique from Julie Fei-Fan Balzer but which actually originated from here.
I had been trying to work out how I could have a sun ray effect and so I took the distress ink and water idea and my shattered flower stencil. I put the Distress ink on the stencil and sprayed it with water.
This possibly isn't the bext technique to use when your journal looks like this. It would be easier with a flat piece of paper.
Anyway, I persevered. I put the journal down onto the stencil and then lifted it up with the newspaper and turned it over. The stencil moved a bit but I rather liked the 'shadow' it gave.
Then I wrote out some of the verses from the month's study on Resurrection Life using Tim Holtz Label Letters for some of the words. Then I used some large letters for 'new life'.
Do you ever look at those Pinterest Fails pictures - you know the ones where they show a wonderful picture of say a cake and then the person's version that looks nothing like the original?
Well I started this week's page with a photo I found of a beautiful page on Pinterest. And right from the start it went wrong. I sprayed some inks onto the page and there was far too much - it took up about twice as much of the page as the original. And actually I think the original used watercolour paints not ink sprays.
I carried on using the original as inspiration but not worrying that mine didn't look like it. In fact if you know me well I hate my work looking like someone else's. I usually come home from workshops with finished pieces that look totally unlike the tutor's.
I stamped and added some washi tape.
I cut out a cross and stuck it on. The theme for March was Journey to the Cross and so is the them for ReWind this week.
And then I used the silver footprint rub-ons that I had.
Then I stamped a verse at the bottom.
It looks a bit unfinished but I decided to leave it because I couldn't think of anything else to do.
The Take Me Deeper theme at His Kingdom Come for February was Love.
For this week's page I took the top printed layer from a paper napkin and glued it to my journal pages.
Then I covered the page with Gesso
I drew a line of gold acrylic ink across the page and sprayed water on it.
When the gold was dry I did the same with the turquoise ink.
When that was dry I sprinkled Primary Elements Lovestruck powder onto the page and sprayed that withe water. I inked the edges of the page with Distress Inks.
I glued different papers, a heart and some buttons on the left hand page and wrote the verses on the right. I mixed some Primary Elements Black Emerald with Glazing medium and put it round the edge of the pages.
For Take Me Deeper at His Kingdom Come we are looking back at the prompts for previous months. This week we are looking at January's theme of Transformation.
I glued down some torn pieces of map, music and book pages and then brushed a thin layer of gesso over the top. I wiped some of the gesso off with a wet wipe.
Using acrylic ink I dropped some ink on the page and then sprayed it with water.
I did the same again with the next colour.
With the orange I tried spraying the water first and then dropping the ink into it. I inked round the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and then wiped it with a wet wipe before inking again.
I found bits and pieces to glue down and added the words.
At His Kingdom Come we decided that for Take Me Deeper each week in October and November, we would condense the monthly topics from January to September into a weekly devotion with a list of all the videos and Go Deeper study prompts. There are reflection questions for those people who have joined since January. For those who have been on the journey with us since the beginning there are rewind questions for people to spend a little more time on the topic or on a different aspect of the study.
So to introduce ReWind I have made a flipthrough video of the finished pages in my journal since we began in January.
This week's Promise theme is the promise from Jesus that God will send
his Holy Spirit. We tend to think of the dove as a symbol for the Holy
Spirit.
For my last week's pages on Promises I did a totally different background. I had dried off the stencil from last week's page onto this page. And then I took the dove stencil from His Kingdom Come and put clear gesso through it. You could put any transparent acrylic medium.
I found 7 Ranger re-inkers that almost match the colours of the rainbow and dropped some of each colour at the top of the page, sprayed water onto the ink and held the book upright so that the ink dripped down the page. When it was nearly dry I removed some of the ink off the clear gesso with a wet wipe.
I printed out the verses I wanted to use and coloured the paper with Distress Inks. I cut up the verses and glued them to my page.
I drew a border round the page with a black pen.
I used the rainbow colours because the rainbow is a sign of another promise from God in Genesis 9: "And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
