Carolyn's post today on 12 Months in View was about a children's book and she invited us to make a bookmark.
Continuing with my green theme and recycling I started with a large tag that already had some colour on it. I wasn't sure what I had used but it looked as though it might be ink.
And I was right. Because when I spread gesso over it, the gesso sucked up the colour.
So instead of white the gesso became a pale shade of green. I put some Distress Ink on it and it didn't take at all so I sprayed ink on instead. Most of which either faded into the gesso or got wiped off by the paper towel I rolled over it.
To be honest I had a lot on my mind so I wasn't really concentrating and picked up whatever was to hand on the table!! I sprayed some orange ink and wiped most of it off by rolling the paper towel over it. There was a stencil so I put that on top and spread modelling paste through it. . . . . .
. . . . which also sucked up the original green!!!!
When the modelling paste was dry I stamped randomly over the top. Then I cut the tag down to a bookmark size.
I stuck some letters on and drew round them with a black pen. I stamped a quote and inked the edges with turquoise distress ink.
I don't usually make bookmarks so this was an interesting challenge made more difficult by having no idea what I was doing. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.
Thanks for stopping by.
Bernice
