M is for Mindfulness

If you want to join in with making an A to Z of Me Journal through the month of February click through to the Challenge blog.

Here on this blog I am going to share how I made the page for today's prompt on Mindfulness.

I covered the page and the next page with gesso and left it to dry.

Instead of putting the acrylic paint onto a mat or a mixing dish I applied it straight to the paper.  Sadly it turned out I had put far too much paint and when I spread it across the page with an old credit card it turned out to be enough for both pages in my journal.

Plus it all merged into one mass of green.

I added some turquoise blue paint randomly and then put my 12x12" stencil on top.  I used a baby wipe to wipe away the paint.

I stamp the word and coloured it in with a Glaze pen.   I inked the edges of the verse and the quote with Distress Ink.  I stamped the squiggle down the right side of the page.  Then I wrote my journaling.

I put Present in one of the shapes as it is my word for 2013.

This is a really simple technique which works really well.  Hope you enjoy it.

  2. Nice use of the different panels of the stencil to write in, and using it to wipe away rather than apply - great idea!
