Now there's an interesting question! Why blog? Why do I blog? Today is my 901st blog post. Well done me! But I'm still asking myself the question.
I started in 2008 with two blog posts for the whole year. I have no idea now why I started or what purpose I had in blogging. Which is maybe why I've got to this point and am challenging myself to blog for 30 days. I'm using the 30 day blogging challenge from Sarah Arrow. It's much better to have a purpose, a goal or a vision when you start something because then you can measure whether you achieved it. Since I don't know what I set out to do, I can't tell whether I've achieved it.
However I have achieved 900 posts. I've hosted giveaways, I've shared my artwork and my photos. Occasionally I've been brave and shared my feelings and my state of mind. Many of my readers have been with me the whole time and some have joined me during the journey. Thank you to you all.
So I would like to ask you a question. It might be questions!
What types of blog posts keep you coming back? Which are the ones you most like to read? What sort of posts do you just click through - go on, I know you do because I do the same with the blogs I follow. What would you like to see more of on my blog?
I would really appreciate it if you could answer in the comments below. Thank you
I love your blog. I might not read it here but I do have it sent to my email and read it there. I love it.

DeleteHi Bernice, I discovered your blog via your first altered book video, soon after I participated in my first challenge 'The art of practising gratitude'. I stayed on for all the techniques you share, even the ones that don't go to plan, your photos (especially the garden gates and doors). Your blog is friendly and honest place to visit. Thankyou and congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteFirst, huge congratulations on posting over 900 times!! That is certainly an achievement and something to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteWhy blog? That's a good question and one I keep asking myself too.
For me, it's about connecting with other like minded people.
Sharing my interests and what I do, and being inspired, excited, and moved by what others share.
I like writing and expressing ideas and thoughts in creative ways.
Blogging takes me beyond myself - I get to meet new people all over the world and to make new friends, to have experiences I would not have had (such as the workshop we did together in Birmingham), and to meet up with blog friends on my travels
It's also somewhere I can share my photos - often the idea for a blog post comes from a photo so it gives me a sense of purpose.
This 30 Day Blogging Challenge (I'm on day 18) is helping me to unravel thoughts and have a clearer idea on what and why I love blogging. And one thing is becoming more clear, I like to visit blogs that offer variety. Yes I like those that share products and ideas that inspire me, but most I like when I get to know the person and see them as a friend. The reason I follow your blog is because I like to read about the things you make, your walks and visits, your thoughts and ideas and of course the tutorials. As for what else I'd like to see? I'm not sure. You've pretty much got things covered I think.
Enjoy this 30 day challenge. I look forward to visiting every day!
Thank you. Lots of ideas here!
DeleteThis is my first visit (via 30 days of blogging) so I can only comment on what I like to read on blogs in general rather than yours specifically. I enjoy just what you describe - a little of what you are up to both craft wise AND in life. I like to feel as though I am having a chat with a friend - which indeed I am with some fellow bloggers. I shall go back and read a few of your recent posts too (and comment)
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog Louise
DeleteMy favorite blogs are those that combine honest sharing of life via written or artistic expression and how that is impacting their walk with the Lord. Your blog is pretty near perfect, in my opinion!!
ReplyDeleteWow thank you Tamara
Delete901 posts! that's pretty cool. I find the reasons why I blog change from week to week, but mostly I blog as I enjoy it. I think sometimes people expect a more profound answer :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah. Yes I think I was expecting it to be a more profound answer
DeleteWow, that's a lot of posts! Congrats on being so disciplined. I am just joining the 30 Day Challenge as well. I blog because I love expressing myself in words. It helps me to process and reflect on my life. I am pretty new to the blogging scene, so I haven't read many blogs yet, but I appreciate those that are easy to read and honest. Like talking to a friend. I enjoy reading about the life experiences of others. I like to laugh but I also like blogs that make me think.
ReplyDeleteHere's my blog! http://toolongdidntwrite.blogspot.com/
Thanks Melissa
DeleteFirst time reader would not be able to answer your questions.
ReplyDeleteBernice, I am new to your blog so it is difficult to answer. Well, maybe not so difficult. I come back because it's you. You present yourself, your art and your photography, including your tutorials, with sweet simplicity. I really like that.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on surpassing 900 blog posts.
Blessing hugs,
Teresa
Don't ever stop your blogs!
ReplyDeleteI love your journal pictures and get SO many
ideas from them!
